Person dies after being 'hit by train'

Pirate FM understands that a person has died after being 'hit by a train' on the main railway line in and out of Cornwall.

Police and paramedics were called to Hele, near Bradninch, on Tuesday morning.

Sadly the person was found dead at the scene and could not be saved.

Officers are trying to identify them and tell the person's family. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

There are cancellations and delays of up to 45 minutes on the railway line between Exeter St Davids and Tiverton Parkway.

It was affecting travellers in and out of the Duchy and tickets were being accepted on South Western Railway services instead.

"At 10.25am today, officers were called to an area in Hele after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
