Man suffers 'life-changing' injuries after crash

A serious crash on Cornwall's A38 has left a man with potentially life-changing injuries.

A casualty had to be cut free after two cars hit between Trerulefoot and Liskeard.

Another driver was also taken to Derriford on Monday night, with minor injuries.

The collision happened just after 8pm, closing the road near the junction for Catchfrench for eight hours.

"Police were informed of a two-vehicle road traffic collision at 8.07pm on Monday 25th March.

"On arrival, the single occupant of one of the vehicles was deemed to have serious injuries.

"The male was taken to Derriford with what is believed to be a life-changing head injury.

"The driver and only occupant of the second vehicle was conveyed to Derriford with minor injuries.

"Several officers from the Roads Policing Team attended, along with a Forensic Collisions Investigator and Scenes of Crime Officer.

"This is necessary when investigating a serious collision, to establish its cause.

"The road re-opened at around 4.30am on Tuesday and police would like to thank the public for their patience".

Devon and Cornwall Police

"At 20:19 this evening the Critical Control Centre received an emergency call from ambulance, regarding a road traffic collision.

"One appliance from Liskeard, Saltash and the rescue tender from Bodmin were mobilised to the incident.

"On arrival, crews discovered a two vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped.

"Crews released one casualty from the vehicle using crash rescue equipment and made both vehicles safe.

"Both police and ambulance were also in attendance".

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101, quoting log 773 of 25th March.
