This is the extent of the damage after a serious crash on the A38 in Cornwall.

Two vehicles collided near Trerulefoot on Monday night.

Police say a driver who was rushed to hospital is in his 30s and from Saltash.

Officers have told Pirate FM they believe the man suffered a life-changing head injury near Trerulefoot.

Another driver, in his 30s and from Liskeard, was also taken to Derriford with injuries described as minor.

The stretch of road was closed for eight hours by the junction for Catchfrench.

"Police were called at 8.07pm on Monday 25th March following reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A38 near Trerulefoot, by the junction for Catchfrench.

"The collision involved a Renault Kangoo and an Isuzu Rodeo.

"The driver of the Renault, a man in his 30s from Saltash, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment where he remains.

"The driver of the Isuzu, a man in his 30s from Liskeard was also taken to Derriford, but this was as a precaution and his injuries are described as minor.

"The road was closed for over eight hours as specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended, along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and a Scene of Crime Officer.

"Officers would like to thank the public for their patience shown whilst they investigated a challenging scene".

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to email 101@dc.police.uk quoting log number 773 25 March.
