Police release update on fatal A30 crash

Police have confirmed a driver who died after a crash on Cornwall's A30 was from Bodmin.

The 54-year-old lost his life when three cars hit near Victoria in the early hours of Saturday.

The collision happened just after 12.30am and closed the road for almost six hours.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, especially anyone who might have dashcam footage.

"At approximately 12.35am on Saturday 30th March, police were advised of a three-vehicle collision that had occurred on the A30 eastbound carriageway, approximately two miles west of the Victoria Interchange in mid Cornwall.

"The collision involved a Renault Clio, an Audi A4 and an HGV.

"The driver of the Clio, a 54-year-old man from Bodmin was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The two occupants of the Audi were conveyed to Treliske Hospital with moderate injuries and the driver of the HGV was uninjured.

"Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene, along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and a Scenes of Crime Officer.

"A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this tragic collision".

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the collision, or who may have any dashcam footage, to contact them on 101 quoting log number 32 of 30th March 2019.
