Police investigate series of arsons across Redruth

Police have launched an investigation after a series of suspected arsons across Redruth.

Officers say a library, disused garage and van have all been targeted.

Three separate incidents have all taken place over the past week.

Anyone who saw anything or has information is asked to get in touch.

"Police are investigating a series of arsons in the Treruffe Hill, Sunnyside, Bond Street and Clinton Road areas of Redruth and are appealing for witnesses."

What happened?

Between 1pm on Saturday 30th March 2019 and 8am on Monday 1st April 2019 two attempts were made to set fire to the Library on Clinton Road. The attempts were made at two locations to the rear of the Library. It is believed the fire was set alight but extinguished shortly after.

On Thursday 4th April 2019 shortly after 9pm an attempt was made to set fire to a disused garage on Sunnyside, a local resident noticed the fire and extinguished it before it was able to take hold.

On Friday 5th April 2019 between 11pm and 11.30pm a van which was parked in the rear carpark of the Library on Clinton Road was set on fire and totally destroyed.
