A fishing boat has been rescued off the coast of St Ives after suffering engine problems.

The lifeboat was scrambled to help early on Thursday morning.

There had been a direct report of a local fisherman experiencing engine issues and fuel restrictions approximately 8 miles north west of St Ives head.

The crew arrived to the vessel, and on arrival the fishing boat was moving, but then quickly the engine misfunctioned again.

The crew decided the only option would be to tow the fishing vessel back.

The crew worked efficiently together to attach a tow and started back towards St Ives harbour.

The vessel thankfully entered the harbour under its own steam.

"The crew were great, worked quickly and efficiently together to get the job done, and get the fisherman and vessel back.

"Weather conditions were variable mainly north east 3-4, and all in all another effective and well organised response by all crew."
