A Cornish holiday park has released a statement after a 10-year-old boy was killed in a dog attack.

Emergency services were called to Tencreek Holiday Park near Looe early on Saturday morning.

A 10-year-old boy was found unresponsive at the scene after being 'attacked by a bulldog-type breed'.

Sadly the boy died at the scene - his family are being looked after by officers.

Now the holiday park says its "deepest sympathies" are with family.

The park remains open and police investigations are ongoing.

"It is with profound sadness that Tencreek Holiday Park management can confirm that emergency services were called to an incident in a static caravan just before 5am on Saturday 13th April.

"Tragically, a 10 year old child was pronounced deceased at the scene after being attacked by a dog present in the same caravan.

"Clearly our thoughts are very much with the family involved-they have our deepest sympathies

"Tencreek Holiday Park staff are to be commended in the way they have dealt with a very distressing incident.

"Tencreek Holiday Park management continues to help police with their enquiries.

"The Park will remain open offering normal service

"Whilst the investigation is underway no further statements will be made."

A 28-year-old woman was arrested later in Saltash, on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control and manslaughter.

She remains in police custody and the dog has been taken to kennels.
