Police have appealed to the public for help to identify a woman whose body was found on the beach at Perranporth.

Officers are conducting inquiries to establish who the woman is and the circumstances surrounding her death.

They have released a description of the woman – including details of distinctive tattoos – and appealed for information.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Just before 7am on Monday 15 April 2019, police were called to Perranporth beach after dog walkers discovered the body of a deceased female along the waterline. Police are still trying to identify this female.

"She is described as a white female, aged in her late 20s to mid-30s, between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in tall and of average build.

"She has shoulder-length dark brown hair and has several tattoos; a large Celtic-type tattoo on her right thigh and a date in Roman numerals on her ankle."

Detective Constable Simon Murray, of Truro CID

Police and ambulance were called to the beach shortly before 7am.

On arrival, a woman was located deceased at the scene.

Searches of the beach have been carried out by police and the coastguard.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting enquiry number EN/5586/19.
