Beach huts destroyed by fire in Bude

Four beach huts have been destroyed by fire on the beach-front in Bude.

Police are investigating after the blaze at Summerleaze on Saturday night.

Firefighters were also called to the scene and used hose reel jets to put the blaze out.

Officers think the fire is arson and want anyone who knows anything to come forward.

"Police investigating an act of arson in Bude, which left four beach huts destroyed by fire, have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"Officers are seeking information over the blaze at Summerleaze beach on the evening of Saturday 13th April.

"The incident happened between 9.40pm and 9.45pm."

"An appliance from Bude and a further one from Holsworthy attended a call to beach huts on fire on Summerleaze Beach tonight.

"On arrival the crew confirmed that three huts were well alight and used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

"The beach huts were destroyed in the fire and the cause is believed to be arson, with police in attendance."
