A man's body has been found on a beach in Cornwall

A man's body has been found on a beach near St Austell.

The discovery was made at Carlyon Bay after police were called following concerns for a man's welfare.

He was found at 10am on Wednesday morning and a cordon was put in place.

Officers are now working to identify him and locate his family.

"Police and ambulance were called at 10am today [17 April] following concern for the welfare of a man on the beach at Carlyon Bay, St Austell,

"On arrival the man was found deceased at the scene.

"A cordon is in place.

"Enquiries are underway to ascertain the man's identity and trace next of kin."

It comes just days after a young woman's body was found on Perranporth beach.

A dog walker found Anastaszja Plusa along the shoreline early on Monday morning.

The 22-year-old's death is being treated as unexplained and police are trying to trace her last steps.
