More information released after man's body found below cliffs

Police have released more information after a man's body was found below Cornish cliffs.

Emergency services were called to Porthcothan, between Newquay and Padstow, in the early hours of Easter Sunday.

The body of a 20-year-old man was found and brought back up to the top of the cliff by the coastguard helicopter.

Sadly he could not be saved and officers have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

It has also been revealed that he was from Exeter and had been on holiday in Cornwall with his friends.

"Police were notified by HM Coastguard just before 2.30am on Sunday 21st April that the body of a man had been found at the bottom of cliffs between Park Head and Porthcothan.

"Officers attended alongside HM Coastguard rescue teams, Lifeboat and helicopter.

"The man was recovered to the cliff top by the Coastguard helicopter. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

"The 20-year-old man from Exeter, had been holidaying with friends and staying in the St Eval area, Wadebridge."
