Plymouth attack leaves man blind in one eye

Published by Emma Carton at 7:16am 30th April 2019. (Updated at 3:57pm 30th April 2019)

An attack on a quiet street in Plymouth has left a man blind in one eye.

Police think the assault on Bainbridge Avenue happened after a row between two men and a young girl.

The casualty in his 40s was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his face on the first Sunday in April.

Now officers are urging two teenagers, who they think might have seen the incident, to come forward.

"It is believed this incident began with a verbal dispute which took place between two adult men and a male and female teenager.

"Following the initial incident, a physical assault between the two men has taken place.

"A man in his 40 sustained serious facial injuries and was treated in hospital. As a result of is injuries he has lost sight in one of his eyes.

"We're really keen to speak to the two teenagers, who it's believed may have witnessed the later assault, and have information vital to the investigation.

"They left the scene prior to police arrival, on foot, in the direction of Hartley. They are described as being between the ages of 13 and 16.

"I would stress that we wish to speak to the two teenagers as potential witnesses.

"There may be parents who are aware their children were in the area around this time or who may have mentioned something about this when returning home.

"I'd urge anyone with any information and anyone can help us identify the two teenagers to get in touch".
