Woman taken to hospital after 'altercation' in Penzance

A woman has been taken to hospital with a minor head injury after an alleged assault in Penzance.

Police were called to reports of an 'altercation' in Jennings Street on Wednesday evening.

A 28-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He remains in custody and police are investigating.

"Police were called at around 7:50pm with reports of an altercation between a man and a woman in the Jennings Street area of Penzance, it was also alleged that the man was in possession of a knife.

"Units attended and located a woman in her 20's who had sustained a minor head injury, she was taken to Treliske hospital as a precaution.

"A 28-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.

"He remains in police custody and awaits questioning and police enquiries continue."
