Woman dies following serious A38 crash

Police have confirmed a serious crash that closed the A38 was fatal.

A woman was rushed to Derriford Hospital after two vehicles collided near Liskeard.

Tragically, the 69-year-old was pronounced dead and her family has been informed.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance rushed to the scene at around 1.45pm on Thursday.

The collision closed the westbound carriageway between Trerulefoot and Menheniot for over five hours.

"Recovery work completed and earlier accident on the A38 westbound between the A374 (Trerulefoot roundabout, Trerulefoot) and the B3252 (Trehawle) clear.

"The road reopened at around 19.20, following an accident near the Menheniot turn-off, first reported at around 13.45".

Officers confirmed the road had reopened just before 7.30pm and thanked drivers for their patience.
