UPDATE: Car crashes at level crossing near Hayle

A car has crashed into a barrier at a level crossing in west Cornwall.

No one has been injured but the vehicle was left stuck and close to the train line.

Gwinear Road, near Hayle, was left partially blocked.

Trains are running normally but there were delays at the crossing.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were all called to the scene at around 9am on Friday morning.

Officials have now confirmed that the road has re-opened.

"Gwinear Road re-opened, traffic returned to normal, accident cleared at the level crossing."

"Police were called at around 9am to a report that a vehicle had collided with a train crossing barrier in Gwinear Road, Hayle.

"The vehicle was stuck between the barriers, close to the train line.

"Network Rail notified police they had put the trains on stop at 9.10am. No injuries, minor damage to the barriers.

"Ambulance and fire service called to the scene.

"Likely to cause issues for trains for most of the day."
