Person 'milkshaked' during a rally in Truro

Police are investigating reports that a person has been 'milkshaked' at a European elections rally in Cornwall.

It happened during an event on Truro's Lemon Quay on Friday lunchtime.

Police have confirmed that the alleged victim was not one of the candidates.

It is understood a protestor ended up on the floor after a scuffle broke out.

Eyewitnesses say security officials piled in and police were called at around 1pm.

Photos show campaigners gathered in the area, holding signs and placquards.

"At 12.40pm today officers attended a report of an altercation at a political rally at Lemon Quay, Truro.

"A milkshake was reportedly thrown over a member of the public by a man wearing black clothing and a white mask.

"Police carried out enquiries but the 'victim' did not make themselves known to officers. No official complaint has been received.

"No-one matching the description of the suspect was located.

"There is a small police presence at the event which is the norm regarding public safety/public order".
