A Cornish mine captain's hilltop home is now a hotel - and it's up for sale.

Wheal Tor Hotel, near Liskeard, is on the market with global real estate advisor Colliers International.

The highest inn in Cornwall sits in a secluded pine copse 996ft above sea level on Caradon Hill and overlooks Bodmin Moor.

And it's on the market at £790,000 for the freehold.

There are eight letting rooms some of which have king size or four poster beds. There is one room available for dog owners - alongside eight glamping pods, two lodges, function room, bar and restaurant.

There is a large first floor flat with two double bedrooms, living area and kitchenette for the owners alongside extensive grounds amounting to 2.5 acres.

Ed Jefferson from Colliers International's hotels agency team said the inn offered diverse revenue streams from letting rooms to glamping in 'Hobbit Houses'.

"Wheal Tor draws year-round trade for holidaymakers, walkers and locals. The glamping pods - called Hobbit Houses - offer a double bed, single bed and a camp bed and are ideal for family adventure holidays without all the inconveniences of a tent."

"Our clients report the hotel's sales average £210,000 net of VAT pa."

"Hotels catering for such a wide range of family holidays are rare indeed. Wheal Tor is a well-established business offering a unique range of experiences."

Wheal Tor was home to a Captain Seccombe who managed the prosperous East Caradon copper and tin mine and guests can look out of the original window from which the miners were paid.

The property is situated in the heart of Cornwall close to Bodmin Moor and the main A30, A38 and A388.

Launceston is 11 miles away, Plymouth 21 and Exeter 52 miles.
