Shocking photos have emerged of a seal surrounded a load of marine litter and plastic waste in Cornwall.

The pictures were taken by a supporter of the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and shared as a warning.

The awful sight was along the north coast and the sanctuary is urging beach-goers to pick up their rubbish.

"Not the nicest post. These photographs are extremely sad to see.

"We get pups in every year who've been affected by ocean litter; getting entangled in it and suffering from life threatening injuries.

"Dispose of your rubbish properly, reduce, reuse, recycle and join us for cleans".
