Appeal to help families after huge house fire

An appeal has been launched to help the families hit by a massive fire in a Cornish village.

Flames tore through four homes in Illogan but, luckily, everyone made it out safely.

Firefighters from St Just to St Dennis were scrambled to Bridge Road on Tuesday evening.

Now a Crowdfunder is trying to raise £5,000, after photos revealed the scale of the damage: Read more.

"Four homes were destroyed by fire on Tuesday 14th May 2019. We know that the resulting needs will be both immediate and long-term.

"For the price of a beer or coffee, together we can provide the help that will be so needed.

"A big thank you to those who have been so generous already".

Donations have been streaming in since the blaze broke out on Tuesday evening.

One supporter said "our hearts go out to you all", while another added "I hope the whole community comes together to help".

Another reads: "The horror of watching your house burn is unimaginable and trying to deal with the aftermath very traumatic.

"It is only right to help the folk who's lives have been affected".
