Police update as motorbike crash leaves man 'fighting for life'

Police have released more details after a crash near a Cornish beauty spot that has left a biker 'fighting for life'.

The 55-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after his motorbike came off the road and hit a wall.

Police say an off-duty police officer was among those who stopped to help at Bedruthan Steps.

The casualty's vehicle was the only one involved late on Saturday lunchtime and the B3276 was closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who might have seen what happened or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

"At around 1246 hours on Saturday 25th May 2019, an off-duty police officer discovered a road traffic collision where a high powered motorcycle is believed to have left the carriageway and collided with a wall on the B3276 Bedruthan Steps.

"As a result of the collision, the 55-year-old rider was taken to a Cornwall Hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

The road was closed for several hours while specialist examination took place.

"Officers from the Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred.

"Witnesses are requested to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information quoting log number 0450 of 25th May 2019. 

"Officers are particularity interested in anyone who may have had dash cam footage in that area during this time".
