Armed police called to a 'stabbing' in Camelford

A man has been taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing in Cornwall.

Armed police were scrambled to Market Place in Camelford on Saturday night.

Officers say a 38-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed another man in his 40s is in custody.

They are urging anyone who saw something just before 9.45pm to come forward.

"On Saturday 25th May 2019 at 2141 hours, police were called to a report of a stabbing in Market Place, Camelford.

"Unarmed and armed units attended the location and a 38-year-old male was located with stab wounds to the chest. 

"This male was transported to hospital and is currently in a stable condition.

"As a result of enquiries, a 45 year old male has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently in police custody. 

"Police would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area or passing through Camelford at about 2130 last night who may have witnessed the incident to call on 101, quoting log number 1009 250519".
