Missing pensioner with dementia found

The family of a missing Cornish pensioner with dementia have told Pirate FM he has been found, after a multi-agency search.

Police urged anyone who spotted Barrie Sweet to call straight away, after he vanished from his home in Falmouth on Tuesday evening.

It is understood the police helicopter, Coastguard helicopter, Coastguard rescue teams and the RNLI were drafted in to help with the search.

Now the 84-year-old’s family has told Pirate FM that he has been found safely in the Penryn area.

Devon and Cornwall Police conformed Barrie had been found and say he was being taken to Treliske to be checked over.

Missing person Barrie Sweet has been located safe by police this afternoon (Wednesday 29 May).

“Officers conducted a search of the Falmouth area today assisted by the Coastguard helicopter.

“Barrie was located in Penryn this afternoon and has been taken to hospital to be checked over.  

“Police would like to thank everyone who assisted in the search to locate him”.
