Silverware stolen in church burglary near Falmouth

A police appeal has been launched after a burglary at a church near Falmouth.

Officers say St Mylor was targeted on Sunday night and a silver pyx was stolen.

The small container has distinctive inscription which can be seen in the photos.

Access was gained to a locked vestry and brass oil stocks and a silver-plate cruet were also swiped.

Anyone who has any information is being urged to come forward.

"The church was targeted overnight between Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April and a sliver pyx was among items taken.

"The circular container has a hinge lid and lifting ring and is inscribed on its side with ‘Ecce Agnus Dei’ and on its underside with ‘Prayer for W.A. White 1920-2002’.

"The item bears a silver mark of a lion’s head, the number 925, a leopard’s head and the letter D, which denotes the year 2003.

"Brass oil stocks and a silver-plate cruet were also stolen after access was gained to a locked vestry."
