Dog dies after falling from cliffs on Cornish coast

A dog has died after falling over cliffs on the north Cornwall coast.

It happened at Backways Cove, near Trebarwith Strand, on Sunday lunchtime.

A lifeboat from Port Isaac was called to the scene but sadly the pet could not be saved.

The dog's body was recovered and returned to its owners.

The rescue crew is sending its condolences.

"Port Isaac lifeboat was tasked at 12.18pm today to a dog over the cliff at Backways Cove.

"We’re very sad to report that the dog did not survive the fall.

"Crew were able to recover the body to return to the owners at Trebarwith Strand.

"All at Port Issac RNLI send our condolences to the owners.

"Many thanks to all who responded."
