Armed police called to an incident at Newquay

Armed police are scrambled to the harbour area of Newquay, to reports of someone carrying a firearm.

Officers found two men and a woman in their 20s with plastic BB-style air guns, bought from a nearby shop.

Those were handed over to police and the group were given advice.

"Police were called to the harbour area of Newquay at around 3.05pm today (Tuesday 25th June) following reports of a male with a suspected firearm. 

"Units, including armed officers, attended the scene and two men and woman, all aged in their 20s, were located. 

"They were in possession of two plastic BB-type air guns which they said they had purchased from a toy shop. 

"The weapons were handed over to police. 

"The men and woman were given advice by officers and sent on their way."
