Woman dies after serious collision in Truro

Police have confirmed a woman has died after a serious collision on one of the main roads into Truro.

The elderly pedestrian was caught in a collision with a car on Tresawls Road, near Treliske Hospital.

A stretch of the A390 was closed for over seven hours but both carriageways have since reopened.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who might have seen something just before 10am to come forward.

"Emergency services were called at 9.55am following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a female pedestrian on Tresawls Road, near the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

"A woman in her 80s sustained serious injuries and was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.

"Enquiries remain ongoing to identify and locate her next of kin.

"The driver of the vehicle is uninjured".

They added: "Investigating officers are appealing to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone who was in the area with dash cam footage".
