Dog rescued from hot car at Cornish beauty spot

A dog has been rescued from a hot car at a Cornish beauty spot.

Firefighters were called to reports of a distressed pet at Kynance Cove on the Lizard.

They had to break the window to get the Springer Spaniel out after the temperature inside the vehicle reached 34C degrees.

The pup was left in the care of the National Trust.

The incident on Monday afternoon is now being investigated by police.

"Six firefighters from Mullion attended a request from Police to a distressed dog locked in a car.

"Firefighters taped up a window before breaking the window of the vehicle to release the dog.

"Using a thermal imaging camera crews recorded the temperature in the care was recording as 34 degrees Celsius.

"The Springer spaniel was left in the care of National Trust officers and this incident is being investigated by Devon and Cornwall Police."
