Newquay's minor injury unit is going to stay open 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.

Patients will be able to turn up with minor conditions or illnesses.

Officials say it will help ease pressure at the emergency department at Treliske in Truro.

The new changes come into force today, Friday 12th July.

"We have been informed by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust that as of Friday 12th July, Newquay’s Minor Injury Unit will be open 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.

"It will be able to see patients who walk-in & self-present with minor injuries/illnesses which otherwise would have needed to attend the ED in Truro."

Newquay Town Council

The unit is run by highly skilled specialist nurses / practitioners who are able to treat a range of minor conditions.
