Armed police called to 'incident' in Penryn

Armed police have been scrambled to Penryn amid reports of man allegedly making threats with a gun.

Officers detained a man at the scene on Thursday afternoon.

A gas-powered ball bearing gun and a number of cannabis plants were seized.

A 35-year-old local man has been arrested and remains in custody.

Police say enquiries in the town are ongoing.

"Police were called to an address in Penryn at around 5.20pm yesterday (Thursday 11th July) with reports of a man allegedly making threats with a suspected handgun.

"Units, including armed officers, attended the scene and a man was detained.

"One gas-powered ball bearing handgun was located and seized, along with a number of cannabis plants.

"A 35-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and cultivation of cannabis and remains in police custody.

"Enquiries are continuing at the scene this morning."
