Police update issued after a man's death in Bude

Police have confirmed a man found dead in a field in Bude was 20-years-old and from the local area.

His body was discovered in the Broadclose Hill area on Friday afternoon, near the junior school.

Officers and paramedics were scrambled to reports of concern for a man's welfare just after 2pm.

Tragically, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.

"Police and ambulance were called to a field in the Broadclose Hill area of Bude, around 2.10pm on Friday 12th July following concern for the welfare of a man.

"On arrival officers located the 20-year-old man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner".
