Shopping centre evacuated in Plymouth

Plymouth's big shopping centre has been evacuated after reports of a possible fire.

Firefighters got the shout to Drake Circus at around 11.20am on Tuesday morning.

It was reported that smoke was seen coming from a ground floor shop.

Officials have told Pirate FM there was no sign of a fire but crews investigated.

Hundreds of shoppers were said to still be outside.

Officials have now confirmed that the shopping centre in back open and running as of 2pm.

"We were called at 11.20am to reports of smoke in a ground floor premises in Drake Circus.

"A full evacuation has taken place and there are six appliances at the scene.

"There is currently no sign of a confirmed fire but crews are investigating."
