Man injured in doorstep attack in Plymouth

Police have launched an appeal after a man was attacked by two strangers in Plymouth, on his own doorstep.

Officers have confirmed the victim suffered a fractured eye socket and lost several teeth.

The incident happened in Welbeck Avenue, on the evening of Saturday 15th June.

Police say two suspects fled in the direction of the train station and they are urging potential witnesses to come forward.

"Police have appealed for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured eye socket when he was attacked by two strangers on his doorstep in Plymouth.

"Officers are investigating an assault, in which the victim also lost a number of teeth, in Welbeck Avenue at around 9.30pm on Saturday 15th June.

"The two male suspects were not known to the victim and ran off in the direction of Plymouth Railway Station.

"The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 7in tall, aged in his 20s or 30s, and with short black/brown hair. He had a tattoo on his upper left arm and was wearing a white T-shirt with a big printed logo on the chest.

"The second suspect is described as a white male, aged in 20s or 30s, 5ft 7in tall, and of slim build. He was wearing a black tracksuit and a black Nike baseball cap, with light brown curly hair sticking out from it.

"Anyone who witnessed the assault, or has information, is urged to contact police by calling 101, or emailing 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference: CR/053681/19.

"Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111, or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org".
