A five-foot-deep sand hole has appeared on a beach in Cornwall.

A warning was issued from coastguard crews after the discovery was made at Par.

It was reported to officials on Sunday evening after it was found about 200 metres from the main entrance.

The photo was shared on Facebook which sparked a string of comments about the potential dangers.

Pirate FM understands that the Council has now filled the hole in.

"Hi everyone, one of the Coastguard team have been walking on the beach tonight and have found a hole that has been dug. It has been reported to the Coastguard.

"Just want you make you all aware as its a safety issue. It's located about 200 mtr from the main entrance towards the middle of the beach.

"It's about 5 ft deep and a small tunnel heading seaward."
