Injuries update after serious crash on Cornish peninsula

A 12-year-old boy, airlifted to hospital after a crash in Cornwall, remains in a serious condition.

Police have confirmed his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The youngster was flown to Derriford after two vehicles collided at Mile End near The Lizard.

The Coastguard helicopter, Coastguard rescuers, firefighters and paramedics were also scrambled.

It happened at around 10.15pm on Saturday and a stretch of the A3083 was closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone who might have dashcam footage.

"On Saturday 10th August around 10.15pm police were advised of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A3083 Mile End, near to The Lizard.

"Police, Ambulance and Fire attended the scene and an air ambulance conveyed a 12-year-old boy to Derriford Hospital who was in a serious condition.

"The road was closed for a number of hours whilst an investigation took place.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience during the closure while the scene was investigated.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have been in the area at the time and have dashcam footage are asked to contact 101, quoting log number 1034 of 10/08/19".
