Multi-million pound health centre opens in Penzance

A new state-of-the-art health centre has officially opened in Penzance.

The St Clare Medical Centre is now home to the Alverton Practice, Sunnyside Surgery and Rosemellyn Surgery. 

The site that will serve over 21,000 people took 15 months to build and opened in February, but the official ribbon was cut on Monday.

Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard, head of the Royal College of General Practitioners, unveiled a plaque to officially open the centre. 

It provides a full range of GP services primary care rooms, rooms for visiting clinicians, operating theatres for minor operations and procedures and meeting rooms. 

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Stokes-Lampard to open our new medical centre.

"As the chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, which represents more than 52,000 family doctors across the UK, she felt it was important for her to see first-hand how GPs are working together with the community to turn their vision into reality and ensure that we meet people’s needs now and in the future".
