Woman rescued after injuring leg in sand dunes

A woman has been rescued after falling and injuring her leg in the sand dunes near Hayle.

Coastguard rescuers were called to Upton Towans to help on Wednesday morning.

The casualty was found and stretchered across the dunes and back down to the road safely.

She was then left in the care of paramedics and taken to hospital.

"At about 9.40am this morning we were tasked to assist the ambulance service at Upton Towans near Hayle to assist a lady who had fallen and injured her leg, some considerable distance into the sand hills. 

"With the team assembled, we located the casualty and using our stretcher we extracted her from the Towans and out to Loggans Road where she was transfered to an ambulance and conveyed to hospital. 

"We returned to our station at about 12.20pm."
