Young man in hospital after attack in Cornish village

Police are investigating reports that a young man was punched and bottled in St Agnes.

Officers say he was approached from behind in the early hours of the first Sunday in August.

It happened on Vicarage Road and the 18-year-old ended up in hospital with a head injury.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something before 12.30am to come forward.

"Police are appealing for information following reports of an assault on Vicarage Road, St Agnes.

"The incident was reported to have taken place between 00:15am and 00:30am on Sunday 4 August.

"It was reported that a man approached the victim from behind and caused injury to his head by punching and smashing a bottle over his head. 

"The victim, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

"Police enquiries continue at this time.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/070140/19".
