Many parents will be able to relate to this situation - a child who ended up locked in a top-floor flat in north Cornwall.

Firefighters managed to rescue the youngster in the Bude area on Tuesday afternoon, after they got stuck inside by accident.

Crews used ladders to get in through a window which, luckily, had been left slightly open!

"The last few weeks' ladder drills were put into action this afternoon when we received a call to a child who had been accidentally locked inside a top-floor flat.

"The 13.5 metre ladder was slipped and pitched to the third floor flat using a confined pitch to a window (which was fortunately partly open!).

"We were able to gain entry to the property with no damage, and reunite the child with the parents".
