Everything you need to know about Cornwall Pride 2019

Cornwall is coming together to celebrate the biggest Pride event of the year in Newquay.

Thousands of people are expected to descend on the town to celebrate diversity and equality across the LGBTQ+ community.

Cornwall Pride is a Community Interest Company with the ethos and mission to create a cohesive, accepting and welcoming place to everyone.

Joining on the day will be entertainment from local/national acts, sponsors, local/national organisations and LGBTQ+ organisations supporting and celebrating.

Cornwall Pride 2019 is taking place on Saturday 24th August - and here's what is happening:

  • 12pm Parade, Cornwall Pride from Towan Beach Newquay.
  • 1pm Rainbow Fest, Day music event at the Killacourt Newquay. Our amazing local Lots Holloway Headlining, Benji Matthews, Joe Hurworth with many brilliant acts and Anita Bush and the Hunt Sisters as Cornwall Pride's host. 
  • 8pm Moonbow Party, Evening music event at Tall Trees club Newquay. With Globe Girls (from the greatest Dancer) Headlining, Katie Kace DJ and The High Octain Disney Show! Tickets: www.cornwallpride.org/tickets

But there will be huge extras for the day and the evening too:

For the day:

Pride Pixies - Cornwall Pride has teamed up with 39 business in Newquay by them becoming Cornwall Pride, Pride Pixies (Pride Supporters).

Giving amazing discounts and or offers in Newquay on Saturday 24th August - all you need to do is wear a rainbow and get discounts in Newquay town at Cornwall Pride on Saturday 24th August. (Newquay welcomes everyone and is giving Cornwall Pride day offers). They will be dressing up their shop face windows Rainbow!

Cornwall Pride Benches - they also have three Cornwall Pride Benches across Newquay celebrating diversity and inclusion. The first two are at the top of Beach Parade near the Kook juice bar, Cornwall Pride Bench, A Safe Space. The third is a 10m Cornwall Pride rainbow bench on the Killacourt looking out to Towan Beach. These permanent Cornwall Pride benches are here as a Safe Space for all the community a symbol of pure love - how you can to be who you want to be and love who you want to love.

The Parade:

The Biggest Parade Cornwall Pride has ever had! They have walkers, organisations, floats, dancers, loads of music and loads of fun.

They will form at Towan Beach at midday (12PM). The will gather from 11AM. If you are in the parade, it is advisable to arrive from 11am to make sure everything is in place ready for the parade to start at midday.

The parade will then head out from the beach area into Beach Road and head into Gover Lane and join Bank Street. Once in Bank Street the parade will make its way through the pedestrian street and join East Street. The parade will then turn left into Bridge Road and then left again into Trebarwith Crescent and make its way to the Killacourt for approximately 1pm.

Rainbow Fest:

Rainbow Fest is the afternoon event held at the famous 'Killacourt' in Newquay, it is a FREE event. Live music will be from 1pm to 7pm

It is a family friendly event with lots to see and do. There will be a licensed bar area, lots of stalls from organisations, business and groups within Cornwall and the UK offering advice and support as well as fun games to play, face painting and a whole lot more.

For the night:

The Moonbow Party.

Hosted at Tall Trees in Newquay, the Moonbow Party promises to be an inclusive and exciting night. Doors open from 8pm and the fun will continue until 2am!

The party is a 'ticket only' event. Tickets are available through www.cornwallpride.org or from the bar at the Rainbow Fest Killacourt.
