Biker dies after crash off A30 near Truro

A motorcyclist has died after a crash on a back road just off the A30.

Police have confirmed a 52-year-old man, local to the Truro area, lost his life at the scene at Allet.

The collision happened just after 7pm on Saturday night and the B3284 was closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police and paramedics were scrambled but, tragically, the man could not be saved.

The force released the following statement, urging witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

"At approximately 1912 hours on Saturday 24th August 2019, Devon and Cornwall Police received a call stating that there had been a road traffic collision on the B3284, Allet, Truro.

"Numerous South Western Ambulance Service Trust resources attended the scene.

They added: "Sadly the male was declared dead at the scene of the collision.

"Local police officers and specialist officers from the Roads Policing Team and No Excuse Team attended the scene, closed the road and launched a full forensic examination.

"Police are requesting that any witnesses with any information and or dash camera footage are to please come forward, unless they have already been in contact with officers at the scene.

"The police incident number is 873, dated 24th August 2019".
