Dead mice 'left in supermarket' in north Cornwall

Police are hunting for a man who reportedly left dead mice in a Cornish supermarket.

Officers say he brought the dead animals into the Tesco in Padstow in a blue freezer bag.

He then placed the mice in two different locations in the shop and then left.

It was captured on CCTV and any fresh food the rodents had been in contact with was destroyed.

"We have alerted police after an individual was captured on CCTV leaving dead mice at our Padstow Superstore."

Police are still searching for suspect and anyone with information is being urged to get in touch.

"Police are investigating after dead mice were purposely left in a Tesco store in Padstow.

"The incident happened around 8.35pm on Saturday 24th August.

"A man entered the store and placed the four mice in two places in the store. He was carrying the animals in a blue freezer bag.

"He then carried on shopping before leaving the store.

"The store destroyed any fresh food that the mice had been in contact with.

"Police are investigating the offence and seeking a white man, aged 65-70, around 5ft 10ins tall, and of average build. He was balding and wore dark trousers and a dark checked shirt."
