Cornish cliff top world record attempt

Cornish cliff top world record attempt

Published by Helen Down at 7:00am 1st September 2019.

A world record attempt involving around 1,000 people from Land's End to Sennen is taking place.

They will gather to form a continuous line along the one mile stretch of the most people painting a landscape at the same time in the same place, with drone footage being taken to capture the event.

The outdoor painting world record attempt aims to raise funds for the National Trust who look after the coastline from the headland at Mayon Lookout across to Cape Cornwall and Land's End.

It is happening on Sunday 1st September.

The charity says it is constantly working on maintaining the paths to reduce the amount of erosion. Just one metre of granite footpath pitching costs £200.

"The event will not only create a visually spectacular art installation but it also encourages the idea that painting outdoors is an excellent way of connecting with the environment and will raise awareness of ‘desire lines’, the paths taken by the public away from the main designated footpath."
