Fire tears through barn in north Cornwall

Crews have been working to tackle flames after a barn fire broke out in north Cornwall. 

It started in St Eval in Wadebridge during the early hours of this morning (September 1). 

Firefighters from Newquay, Padstow and Perranporth were all called to the scene at around 4.45am and were said to be working to remove gas cylinders from the barn. 

They later called in back-up from two further teams in St Columb and St Dennis. 

Cornwall Fire and Rescue confirmed before 9am that the fire had been extinguished and crews had left the scene. 

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and spread.

At 04:44 this morning the Critical Control Centre received an emergency call regarding a barn on fire.

Two appliances from Newquay, one appliance from Padstow, Perranporth and the Water Carrier from Wadebridge were mobilised to the incident. 

05:14 - Crew on scene discovered one barn measuring approx. 30 m by 30 m, well alight. Firefighters are working to remove cylinders from the barn, using two Breathing Apparatus and one Hose Reel Jet. 

05:41 - Firefighters on scene are now using four Breathing Apparatus, one main jet and two Hose Reels

05:50 - Make pumps six. Appliances from St Columb and St Dennis were mobilised to the incident.
