Cars crashes into telegraph pole in Launceston

A car has crashed into a telegraph pole on a busy road through Launceston.

The A388 Saltash Road was left closed in both directions.

Police say that the driver has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

Two passengers have suffered very minor injuries and have been taken home.

Paramedics and firefighters got the shout to the scene on Sunday morning too.

"Police were called by the ambulance service at 6.05am this morning.

"There were three people in the car. The driver has been taken to hospital with a possible broken arm.

"Two passengers suffered minor injuries and have been taken home by friends and family.

"Western Power are on the scene along with Highways, and the road is closed."

Devon and Cornwall Police

The collision happened just after 6am on Sunday morning and engineers were called to the scene to repair the damaged pole.

Officials have now confirmed that the road has reopened.

"All lanes open, accident cleared on A388 in both directions between Stourscombe Vale (Launceston) and near the turning for South Petherwin (Tregada).

"The road has re opened around 09:30."
