Crash blocks a busy main road in north Cornwall

Police, paramedics and firefighters have been scrambled to a crash in north Cornwall.

Two vehicles collided, blocking a stretch of the A388 near Callington.

Crews from the town and Launceston were called to Penpill Cross just after 9am on Tuesday.

Police have since confirmed that it was a minor-injury collision.

"The Critical Control Centre received a call from South Western Ambulance Service at 09:11 informing them of a two vehicle RTC on the A388 in the Callington area.

"Appliances from Callington and Launceston were mobilised along with a Rescue Tender from Bodmin. 

"Additionally, two wholetime officers were mobilised for support.

"Crews are on scene and assisting in making the scene safe. 

"The Rescue Tender is no longer required and is returning to home station".

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Inrix Traffic and Travel was reporting slow traffic and delays around Penpill Cross, but says the road has now reopened.
