Woman dies after a serious crash near Truro

Police have confirmed a serious crash on one of the main roads to Truro was fatal.

A local woman in her 60s has died after two cars collided near Probus.

Three other people have suffered minor injuries.

The incident happened between the junctions for Waitrose and Tregony Road, closing the road for several hours.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were scrambled on Tuesday morning.

Anyone who might have seen something at around 10.30am is being urged to come forward.

"On Tuesday 10th September 2019 at approximately 10.28am, police were advised of a two-vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of the B3275 and the A390 near Probus in Cornwall.  

"The driver and only occupant of one of the vehicles, a blue Volvo V70, was treated at the scene by paramedics and air ambulance staff but was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The second vehicle, a silver Mercedes ML270, contained three persons, all of whom sustained minor injuries.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team and Forensic Collision Investigators also attended and the road was closed for several hours whilst a specialist examination took place.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have been in the area at the time or have any dashcam footage are asked to contact 101, quoting log number 248 of 10/09/19.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience during the closure while the scene was investigated".
