Fire breaks out at block of flats on edge of Truro

Pirate FM understands people have had to be rescued from flats in Truro after a fire.

Firefighters were scrambled to reports of two people trapped inside at St Thomas Close in Highertown.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service also had reports of flames coming out of a front door.

Teams from the city and Tolvaddon were called first thing on Thursday, but everyone is believed to be safe.

"At 5:44 this morning the Critical Control Centre mobilised from Truro, Tolvaddon and a local officer, to reports of flames coming out of a front door property. 

"Two person was reported trapped inside. 

"Four BA and a hose reel were used to extinguish the fire. 

"All persons have been accounted for".
