Police have issued an urgent appeal after a serious-injury crash in Camborne.

An 80-year-old local woman was airlifted to Derriford on Thursday morning.

It's understood the pedestrian was caught in a collision with a lorry.

At one point, officers said they believed her injuries could be life-threatening.

They think a small red car could have seen what happened and they are trying to trace the driver.

The incident happened at around 10am and Devon and Cornwall Police are also appealing for dashcam footage.

"Police were called at around 10am on Thursday 12th September to Moor Street, Camborne, following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, an 80-year-old local woman, sustained a serious leg injury and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital, where she remains.

"Officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team, crime scene investigators as well as forensic collision and vehicle examiners attended the scene.

"Investigating officers are appealing to speak to anyone with any relevant dashcam footage.

"Police are also keen to speak to a potential witness to the incident, the driver of a small red car that was travelling along Moor Street at the time of the incident.

"The road was closed for several hours while specialist examination took place.

"Police are grateful for the patience of the public whilst this took place".

Devon and Cornwall Police

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 254 of 12th September.
