Man 'shocked' to find needles on a Cornish beach

An environmentalist says he was left in shock to discover these needles on a picturesque Cornish beach.

Andrew Frost, who runs the social media groups Turn the Tide, found them at Porthpean near St Austell on Friday.

He shared the photos as a warning, saying it was lucky he managed to get to them before children.

"Someone told me this beautiful beach was clean. I'm so happy I got to these before any children.

"These needles had come from a sharps' box that had broken open; be careful in case there are any others - hopefully not!"

Andrew added that he was keen that the post does not put people off from visiting the local area.

"It is a lovely Cornish beach so do not avoid it because of this post. That could have quite easily been any other beach worldwide.

"Just please be aware on all beaches".

During his visit to Porthpean and Par, Andrew also discovered cups, beer cans cigarette buds and plastics in the sand.
