Man 'critical' after serious crash in Cornish village

A man is fighting for life after a serious crash in a Cornish village.

Police say the driver was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the collision at St Day.

Officers have confirmed one vehicle was involved on Vicarage Hill, closing the road for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something early on Monday evening to come forward.

"At approximately 5.39pm on Monday 16th September 2019, police were informed of a road traffic collision on the B3298, Vicarage Hill, St Day, involving a Seat Alteca.

"The driver was taken to Treliske Hospital in a life threatening condition.

"Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall Police's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and the road was closed to allow an investigation of the scene.

"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and patience while they investigated the scene and are appealing for any witnesses of this collision to telephone 101 quoting Log 733 16/09/19".
